Ask most buyers to name a white marble and they'll say "Italian." But some of the brightest, cleanest whites in the world come from Vietnam, Greece, Namibia and beyond - often at better prices, and sometimes with qualities Italy simply can't offer. These are the imported whites we stock and how we place them.
Vietnam White - the brightest white in the yard
If the brief is "as white as possible," Vietnam White wins. It is a crystalline, snow-white marble with high translucency - light passes into the surface and bounces back, giving rooms a luminous quality no painted surface can match. Veining is minimal to none, which suits modern, minimal interiors.
- Look: pure crystalline white, little to no veining.
- Best for: bright modern flooring, bathrooms, temple interiors, full-white schemes.
Volakas - Greece's soft classic
From the quarries of northern Greece, Volakas offers a milky white ground with elegant grey-purple veining. It reads softer and warmer than Carrara, and its gentle movement makes it forgiving to lay - slabs blend into each other without hard transitions. A favourite for hotel bathrooms and residential flooring across Europe, and increasingly in India.
The wider white world

- Namibia White: a hard, consistent African white with subtle crystal sparkle - excellent for high-traffic floors.
- Australian White: creamy ground with soft movement - pairs beautifully with timber and neutral palettes.
- Oriental White: fine grey veining on a cool white ground - a Carrara look at a sharper price.
- Lassa White & Crystal White: clean, bright utility whites for large-format flooring at volume.
- Brazilian White: distinctive movement and hardness approaching quartzite territory.
- Panda White: graphic black-on-white marbling for high-contrast feature work.

Three questions settle most decisions: How white does it need to be? How much veining do you want? And what does the budget per square foot look like once cutting and wastage are counted?
